World Bank Data Partnership
The World Bank wanted to use consumer spending data to help governments measure economic development outcomes, but an approved product, governance framework, and partnership model for this use case did not yet exist.
I recognized an opportunity to establish Visa's first data partnership with the World Bank and led the effort to make it possible. I worked across Product, Legal, Privacy, Policy, Operations, and Engineering teams to define an approved use case, establish data governance requirements, and onboard the World Bank to a spend intelligence experience built custom for the World Bank. I also managed the client relationship, supported research and publication efforts, and ensured all usage complied with Visa's disclosure and privacy standards.
The partnership became the first World Bank-Visa data collaboration, providing access to Visa's aggregated and depersonalized spend intelligence to support tourism and economic policy research across LEDCs. The engagement demonstrated a new commercialization pathway for Visa, generated external thought leadership, and established a repeatable model for future partnerships with supranational organizations.
